Welcome ! To my corner of the world ...Central Queensland, Australia
My name is Taryn Jones
The origin of my Kennel name came about when my brother Rick, returned from living in France.
Rick used the expression "TOUCHE" frequently. This word in French means ...TOUCH...
I also knew that this wonderful breed of dog, the Pomeranian, has forever 'touched' my heart , so Touche...my kennel prefix came about!
Established in mid 2008, on a small acreage in Central Queensland near Rockhampton.
I have been involved with this wonderful breed since a young child as my parents have always owned a Pomeranian (or Spitz breed of dog) for most of their lives. I have happy memories of growing up with our Pomeranians being a 'treasured' part of our family. I have possessed this love of the Pomeranian since I was a young girl and have many wonderful memories of my growing up in a home with these wonderful dogs.
As a young teenager I remember my next door neighbour, Mrs Yarwood having two Show Pomeranians "Haughty Tiny Star" and "Astral Our Desire". They were the very first Conformation Show Pomeranians which I had ever seen and I adored them. Mrs Yarwood would spend hours talking about her show experiences, her dogs, their grooming and the many trophies and Awards they had won. Back then, I had no idea that dogs also could be "shown". This left an imprint in my young teenage memory.
I had grown up with horses and through my involvement with my family's race stables, went on to become the proud owner and trainer of my own show horses. I successfully competed in various Dressage, Three Day Events, Show Jumping and Sporting events. I proudly became an accredited Pony Club Instructor... I lived, breathed and spoke horse, horse and more horse!
Back then, I rose at 3 a.m. each morning to head off to the stables and load up the racehorses for their daily, early morning trip to Callaghan Park Racecourse for their track work. It was nothing for me to rake out 12 boxes (stables) and then help feed and settle the horses back into their day yards after their return from the track. I would then go off to school for the rest of my day until it was time to go back to the stables and bed the horses down for the night. I played the role of "strapper" for years and loved every moment of it.
We also had various small properties on which we raised beef cattle. I was more of a "tom boy" and did all the tough stuff like - branding, mustering, dipping, drenching, hand feeding the herd in the dry times, and even helped with the fencing when it was needed. Thanks to 'country' values and great hospitality, we also helped muster our neighbour’s properties and in return, they helped us. I thank my lucky stars for being given these wonderful memories to treasure.
As a young adult, I initially started showing Old English Sheepdogs (OES). My first OES was "Movama Ceiling Zero" a.k.a. Grubba and, a few months later came Panda. Both OES came from the Melbourne kennel under this "Movama" prefix.
At that time, I owned a mini Cooper S and could only fit one full-grown OES in the back seat. It used to cause such a stir when I drove down the street with Grubba in the car, with his head out the window. As a fully grown adult, Grubba stood as tall as my mini.
I showed my dogs for approximately 3 years and then, after becomming married, stopped showing and started a family. From then on, my OES retired from the show ring as Champions, living the good life as our much loved, cherished pets.

More recently, while I was rekindling my interest in show dogs, I decided to look into obtaining a show prospect Pomeranian and, in 2008 was offered an opportunity by Violet Grendon from Mackay to purchase one of her own locally bred Poms under the "Tansura" prefix.
I went through a few "prospects" during the next few years until I bred my first litter and have enjoyed my "Hobby" ever since.

We share our home with some interesting wildlife and have many varieties of birds that visit us such as:
Double Bar and Zebra Finches, Rosellas, Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, Apostle Birds, Ibis, Galahs and Quarians to name a few.
I am an avid gardener and have learnt to conserve water, as we are on our own water supply via a large dam and rainwater tanks here. I was fortunate to win a first prize in the 2008 Regional Gardening Competition and could spend most of my day out in the garden. I have also become an expert operator of the John Deere ride-on lawn mower and also enjoying this activity.
I use a lot of mulch on my garden beds. It's my personal experience that Lucerne hay is the best mulch, as it feeds nitrogen back into the ground, adds lots of organic matter into your soil and the worms love it! Another tip is to use any old cotton items, such as old curtains or doonah covers, etc instead of weed matting. Lay the natural fibre article flat on the ground around the plants and cut out slots to allow clearance around the plant stems and then put a nice thick layer of mulch on top of this. The ground holds the moisture wonderfully and this is also recycling to boot!
