BAIT SNACKS
1/2 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup water
1kg liver (chopped... ready to liquify)
1/2 cup wheat germ
1 cup corn meal (not wheat flour)
1 cup plain flour
Method:
Pre-heat oven to 180degrees C.
Liquify liver and water in food processor, pour into mixing bowl and add all the other ingrienents.
Mix well and pour onto greased non stick baking sheet - spread evenly.
Bake 180degrees C for 30 minutes, remove from oven then quickly cut into squares while hot or cut with a cookie cutter.
Store in your freezer.
Variation: add 1/2 cup of peanut paste.
BROWN RICE N CHICKEN
1.5kgs minced chivcken meat
2.1/2 cups of frozen vegetables (no garlic or onions) minced
4 cups brown rice - (is an easily digestable carbohydrate)
Method:
Place chicken, vegetables and rice into saucepan then stir in 6 cups water until this mixture is smooth.
Place over medium-high heat, bring to the boil stirring constantly.
Reduce heat to medium-low, cover saucepan and simmer until the rice is tender and all of the liquid has been absorbed (about 25-30 minutes).
Cool completely before serving; or put into individual freezer bags ready to be placed into the freezer; or store in your fridge in a sealed container.
GOURMET BISCUITES:
500 grams cooked chicken
21/2 cups flour
1 cup quaker oats
3 stock cubes - meat or chicken
1 cup water
3 eggs (beaten)
Method:
Pre-heat your oven to 180degrees C.
Grease cookie sheets and set aside.
Finely chop your chicken or run it through a blender, briefly.
In a large bowl, mix flour, oats, crumble stock cubes, then mix and add the beaten eggs and chopped chicken meat.
Stir in enough water to make a firm, slightly sticky dough.
Spread or roll out onto cooked sheets about 1/2 inch thick, dip a small cookie cutter in flour before cutting out each portion (or use a floured rim of a glass).
Bake for one hour, then cool before serving.
Store in the fridge - can be kept for up to 14 days in the refridgerator.
FROSTY PAWS
1 Kg vanilla yoghurt
1 mashed banana (or a jar of baby fruit)
1 tablespoon peanut paste
1 Tablespoon honey
Method:
Blend all of these ingriendents together and freeze in either small paper cups or ice cube trays.
Microwave just a couple of seconds to thaw and remove from paper cups before serving, making sure the treats ARE NOT HOT!
HOME MADE MEAT WOOF LOAF
600 grams turkey mince
1 cooked cup of rolled oats
3/4 cup flazseed oil
2 large eggs
2 cups thawed frozen mixed vegetables (green leafy veges are full of antioxidants & minerals in fact vegetables like sweet potatoes, sweet corn, peas, carrots but NOT ONIONS LEEKS OR CHIVES! as their eating onions can cause your dog's red blood cells to rupture, and can also cause vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and nausea
2 hard boiled egss peeled/shelled
Method:
Preheat oven to 180 degreesC
Line a loaf tin with baking paper
In a large bowl mix all the ingredients EXCEPT THE BOILED EGGS together.
Place about a quarter of this mixture into the bottom of your loaf tine, pat down and spread it evently.
Add the hard boiled eggs, then cover with all the remaining mixture.
Cook for about 45 minutes
Can be sliced after 10 minutes to allow to cool down.
I put cut slices ( various quantities) into freezer bags (when cold) and then freeze.
SWEET POTATO CHEWS
1 large sweet potato with skin on
Note: slow baking sweet potatoes is a better choice than boiling them, as boiling can cause water soluable nutrients to be lost,
Method:
Air fyer/Dehydrator - follow your manufacturers instructions re dehydrating or frying times.
Oven - Preheat oven to 120degrees C
Scrub the sweet potato with a brush - no need to peel it!
Slice into uniform thin slices as cooking time will varyif odd thickness,
place on baking tray in a single layer, bake for an initial 1.1/2 hours then flip over and bake a further 1.1/2hours making a total baking time of 3 hours.
Cool on a wire rack, when cold store in a dry, sealed, air tight (tupperware) container,
CHICKEN JERKY
2,3 or 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (dependant upon the quantity you require)
Method:
Dehydrator: following manufacturers instructions.
Oven: Preheat oven to 120degrees C
Line baking trays with baking paper
Using a sharp knife slice chicken breasts lengthwise into thin strips - Note: for hard & dry jerky slice into 1/2cm strips while for soft and chewy jerky slice into 1cm strips.
Place strips onto prepare baking trays, bake for two hours.
Check chicken before removing from oven, then cool on a wire racks before placing into air-tight containers or into freezer bags, ready to place in your freezer.
LIVER AND TUNA CAKES (if liver is too rich for your dog you can uan use tuna instead) see end of this receipe.
250 grams Liver
125 grams flour
2 large eggs
2 cloves garlic
Preheat oven to 180 degrees celcius or 350F Gas
line a greased cake tin or traty with greasproof cooking paper.
Roughly chop liver then whizz it into a food processor or blender.
Add the flour, eggs and garlic and whiz or blend a second time.
Pour or shovel it into your lined cooking tray,
cook for 30-40 minutes test at that time, the cake should just bounce back a little when you prod the top with your finger.
put onto a wire rack to cool.
When cold tip out of its pan, cut into small squares and put into freezer bags and freeze in individfual bags ready to take out when required.
Tuna Cake: Use 250 gram of tuna in oil (not in spring water) insted of liver.
