Dogs awarded their ‘CHAMPION’ title by Australian National Kennel Council Ltd, the administrative body for pure breed canine affairs in Australia, wins not fewer than four “CHALLENGE Certificates”, under no fewer than four different Judges at different Championship shows and gains 100 points.

Points are allocated only at Championship shows for exhibits six months 0f age or older, as follows:
- Challenge Certificate: A. The Dog Challenge 5 points plus 1 point for each male dog exhibited for the breed (over the age of six months). B. The Bitch Challenge 5 points plus 1 point for each female exhibited for the breed (over the age of six months).
- Best of Breed winner: Chosen between the Challenge winning dog and Challenge winning bitch = 5 points plus 1 point for every male and female exhibited (over the age of six months).
- Best in Group: 5 points plus 1 point for each dog and bitch exhibited in the group (over the age of six months) exhibited for the Group.
- Best In Show: At an All Breeds show = 25 points
- Best In Show at a Specialist Club or a Group Club Show: five points plus 1 point for each male & female six months of age and over, exhibited at such show.
